Hyde Co. Dabbles

I’m trying to make up an armwarmer pattern, and for some reason this just isn’t working for me. I like the cable and I like the lace, but somehow it’s not working as a cohesive whole. And I’m not enough of an artist to know why or how to fix it.
Any suggestions, knitting peoples?

  2. thebrilliantk answered: You need to separate the cables and the lace, right next to each other they are too busy I think

Maybe do a bit of stockinette between the cable and the lace? That way they both have a more solid background to “pop”...
  4. fallenwithstyle answered: It looks like a cohesive whole. It just also looks like every other armwarmer pattern, ever.
  5. leylinemaiden answered: My first thought was that it would look better in a solid, because the tonal is taking away from the lace. Maybe try swatching a solid color?
